Custom orthotics and medical-grade footwear in Castle Hill are available at Foot Balance Technology — a specialist pedorthic clinic serving the Hills District from our established clinic on Carrington Road, just 650 metres from Hills Showground Metro Station.

If you are living with foot pain, a diabetic foot condition or a mobility issue affecting your daily life, we can help. This is not a shoe shop and we are not a general health clinic. Everything we do at Foot Balance Technology centres on one thing — your feet — bringing genuine clinical expertise to every assessment and every custom device we create.

Why See a Pedorthist in Castle Hill?

There is a question we get asked regularly: what is the difference between a podiatrist and a pedorthist? A podiatrist diagnoses and treats a broad range of foot and lower limb conditions. A pedorthist specialises in the design, manufacture and fitting of custom footwear, orthotics and ankle foot orthoses (AFOs).

Foot Balance Technology is led by Dr Sayed Ahmed, the first person in Australia to hold a PhD in Pedorthics. His doctoral research focused on footwear and insole design for people with diabetes and neuropathy—clinical expertise that shapes every assessment and prescription.

People with complex foot conditions needed more than off-the-shelf solutions. They needed devices designed specifically for them and backed by genuine clinical evidence.

Foot Balance Technology is a member of the Pedorthic Association of Australia and is accredited as both a DVA-approved Medical Grade Footwear provider and a registered NDIS Assistive Technology Provider.

The Path to Better Foot Health Starts Here

Every patient goes through the same three-step process:

01

Assess

We start with a thorough foot assessment, including digital scanning and gait analysis, to understand exactly what is happening and why.

02

Recommend

Based on your assessment, we recommend the most appropriate solution - whether that is custom orthotics, medical-grade footwear, an AFO or a combination.

03

Fit & Adjust

Your devices are made to your prescription. We fit them, check them and adjust them until they are right. We do not hand you a box and send you on your way.

Funding & Health Cover

Custom orthotics and diabetic footwear can be expensive, but many patients receive full or partial support through funding schemes and health cover.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral to see a pedorthist at the Castle Hill clinic?

No. You can book directly without a referral. However, if you are accessing Medicare CDM rebates or certain funding schemes, a GP referral may be required. We will let you know what applies to your situation when you get in touch.

Is there parking at the Foot Balance Technology Castle Hill clinic?

Yes. On-site parking is available at our Carrington Road clinic. We are also 650 metres from Hills Showground Metro Station if you prefer to come by train.

Does NDIS cover custom orthotics and orthopaedic footwear?

Yes, in most cases. Custom orthotics and medical-grade footwear are generally funded under the Assistive Technology category of your NDIS Capital Supports budget, subject to clinical justification and NDIA approval. Foot Balance Technology is a registered NDIS AT Provider.

Can a foot assessment detect problems in other parts of the body?

Yes. Since foot function affects overall alignment, foot issues can contribute to knee, hip, or lower back discomfort.

What is the difference between a podiatrist and a pedorthist?

A podiatrist diagnoses and treats a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions. A pedorthist specialises in the design, manufacture and fitting of custom orthotics, footwear and AFOs. The two disciplines are complementary - many patients are referred to us by their podiatrist.

Can Foot Balance Technology help with diabetic foot problems in Castle Hill?

Yes. Diabetic foot care is at the heart of what we do. Dr Sayed Ahmed's PhD research focused specifically on footwear and insole design for people with diabetes and neuropathy, and the clinic holds DVA and NDIS provider accreditation for funded diabetic footwear services.

How long does it take to get custom orthotics made?

It depends on the complexity of your prescription. We will give you a clear timeframe at your assessment appointment. Custom devices take longer than off-the-shelf products - because they are made specifically for you.

Which suburbs does the Castle Hill clinic serve?

Our Castle Hill clinic is the go-to pedorthic practice for the Hills District, serving Baulkham Hills, Kellyville, Norwest, Cherrybrook, Dural, Rouse Hill, Bella Vista, Pennant Hills and surrounding areas. We also service patients who travel here from other parts of Sydney and beyond.
